Active safety system - The 3rd Generation

The 3rd generation (active safety system) enhances the 2nd generation mainly by automatic recognition of a pedestrian on the pedestrian crossing and in its close vicinity. Using the pedestrian button is therefore no longer needed.

The notification of actual pedestrian presence is taken care of by a dynamic detector, which is always adjusted to a specific crossing and its surroundings. The indication for drivers of incoming vehicles is again provided by a change of the LED signalling devices regime (e.g. change of colour and frequency of flashing).

Another part of the system is a pedestrian detector which causes that the pedestrian notification period is not strictly given, but it is precisely proportionate to the actual occurrence of pedestrians in the pedestrian crossing zone. Even a very slowly moving person is reliably detected through the entire time of crossing the road.

Dynamic detector system

    • It allows for timely notification to the drivers of a crossing pedestrian.
    • It works nonstop, with no delays.
    • The notification period is precisely proportionate to the actual occurrence of pedestrians in the pedestrian crossing zone.
    • The notification of a pedestrian entering the road is given to the driver sooner than the pedestrian actually enters the road.
    • The notification of actual pedestrian presence is signalized during the entire time of their crossing the road. Even a very slowly moving person is reliably detected through the entire time of crossing the road.
    • A significant increase of pedestrians’ safety on multilane communications, where collision situations often occur because of the drivers’ inattention.

Examples of possible notification and indication:

  • State 1 – no pedestrian is present. The LED signalling devices ceaselessly shine in white colour just to highlight the location of the pedestrian crossing.
  • State 2 – PEDESTRIAN WARNING! The LED signalling devices flash in red colour interruptedly.
